The Primal Clash prerelease is upon us! Since this falls on Sunday we will not have our normal league that afternoon. Below is some information about the prerelease tournament.
Don’t forget that there is also an Albany league that meets at the Matt Cave on Saturdays from 11am-1pm. If you have questions about this league I can direct you to the league organizer.
Also, if you are interested in the competitive side of Pokemon tournament play, there is still a small group that meets at Matt’s Cavalcade of Comics here in Corvallis on Thursdays from 5pm – 7pm or 8pm. This is mainly for testing competitive decks and does not have any league affiliation/rewards.

SANCTIONED SIDE EVENT TOURNAMENTS: Side events following the main tournament will be determined by the amount of interest. We’ll have Primal Clash boosters if people want to do a booster draft. We will have Pokemon league this Sunday at the Elks from 2-4pm as usual. There will be a Magic: The Gathering tournament in the front room so we will be in the back (as you walk in the main entrance, turn left).
Just a reminder that the Elks does not allow outside food or drink in the building. They have been a bit lax on this when the kitchen is not operational, but on Sunday the kitchen will be open due to the tournament. Please respect this and don’t bring outside food or drink.
Another reminder that the Primal Clash Prerelease will be Sunday Jan 25 at the Elks. Registration starts at 11am and ends promptly at 11:30; the total cost is $30 per person but that gets you a total of 8 packs of cards more than a week before they hit store shelves. You also get to play in a fun tournament and potentially win more prizes! It’s a great opportunity and I encourage everyone to come. If you have any questions don’t hesitate to ask.
Due to that prerelease, we will not have Pokemon League on Sunday Jan 25. I will remind everyone next week as well.
OTHER UPCOMING EVENTS:
- There is a tournament in Salem on Jan 31st that is $5 to enter. I don’t know much about this event. I tried to call the organizer but haven’t heard back. Here is some information about it: https://www.pokemon.com/us/play-pokemon/pokemon-events/15-01-000367/
- Regional Championships are approaching! Our Regional tournament is up in Portland on the weekend of Feb 14,15. This is not up on pokemon.com yet so I don’t have a link, but if you are interested I can get you more information about this competitive tournament.
We will be having league this Sunday as usual at the Elks from 2-4pm.
As a reminder, there is also an Albany league that meets at the Matt Cave on Saturdays from 11am-1pm. Matt Boat runs this league, and it will meet tomorrow. I plan to attend.
Lastly, I have found information regarding the upcoming Prerelease for the new set Primal Clash! It is scheduled on Jan 25 at the Elks with registration from 11-11:30am. Because this falls on a Sunday, we will forego league that day. Remember that it costs $30 per person, but you will get the cards more than a week before they hit shelves (Feb 4) and get to participate in a fun tournament with your new cards.
Below is a link to the event page on Pokemon.com, and you can ask me any questions you have regarding this event (or contact the event organizer, June Clayton, from the link).
Thanks – Tim
The WordPress.com stats helper monkeys prepared a 2014 annual report for this blog.
Here’s an excerpt:
A San Francisco cable car holds 60 people. This blog was viewed about 1,500 times in 2014. If it were a cable car, it would take about 25 trips to carry that many people.

We will have league this Sunday 12/21 from 2-4pm at the Elks. Earl will be running it and has all the materials.
We will NOT have league on 12/28.
I will be back to host the league on 01/04.
Happy holidays! Tim
